The theory of Childhood Amnesia states that adults generally cannot reliably retrieve memories from before they were ~7-10 years old.
This means that from about 2019 onwards – only 4 years from now – all new adults will not remember a time before smartphones. Mobile computing & ubiquitous broadband networking will be perceived as natural, an always-been-there.
Not only will there soon be billions of people who consider their always-connected mobile device their primary computer, but this will seem as basic and banal as indoor plumbing.
The 2020s is going to be a remarkable decade.
